March 20, 2025 (El Cajon) -- The Circle Players will be performing the dinner theatre production of “Everyone’s A Critic” on April 5th at 6:30 p.m. and on April 6th at 1:30 p.m.  Performances will be held in Richardson Hall, 551 Farragut Circle, El Cajon.  All seats for this mystery dinner theatre show are $30 and includes a 3-course French-themed meal.  

 

About the show directed by Joel Gossett  On the brink of a famous food critic’s first bite, the staff of the exclusive French restaurant Goût de Paris has a traitor in the kitchen who appears to be bent on sabotaging the evening.  You, the audience, while enjoying a delicious French three-course meal, must guess who the culprit is.

March 19, 2025 (El Cajon) -- Saps at Sea, the San Diego chapter of the Sons of the Desert, the International Laurel and Hardy fan organization, presents: Ollie Feigns Illness to Attend Lodge Events!  

 

 

Films include Laurel and Hardy in "Be Big!" and "Sons of the Desert", plus Harold Lloyd's "High and Dizzy" and Will Rogers' "Big Moments from Little Pictures".  Movie-related books will be available for purchase.

 

Saturday April 5, from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. at First Lutheran Church of El Cajon, 867 S Lincoln Ave, El Cajon, CA 92020. Admission is $10 and includes dessert.  Free for children 12 and under. Doors open at 4:30 p.m., program starts at 5 p.m.

February 27, 2025 (Rancho San Diego) – Tomatomania returns to the Water Conservation Garden at Cuyamaca College on Friday and Saturday, March 7-8.  The free, two-day event celebrates 75-80 incredible varieties of your favorite summer treat—tomatoes. You can purchase tomato plants including some rare varieties, cherished heirlooms and legendary classics—plus get tips from experts on how to grow the most flavorful tomatoes.  Hours are 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on March 7 and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on March 8.

Admission to Tomatomania is free, though there is a $25 charge to reserve space in the “Totally Tomato Cooking Demonstration” on March 7 from 12-1 p.m. Garden chef and instructor Nicolai Winkler will showcase tomato soup paired with a fresh tomato Panzanella salad.  Class includes a personal portion of soup and salad, take-home recipe and up-close demonstration. REGISTER HERE
 

You can also sign up for a free workshop titled “That’s Swale” on March 8 from 10-11 a.m. with Eric Saline of Wild Made Design.  Soil is the most efficient water storage you can have on your property, and building good healthy soil benefits every level of a garden ecosystem. Before you install plants, rain tanks, and grey water systems, be sure your landscape is designed to handle and harvest as much water as possible – passively.  REGISTER HERE

February 21, 2025 (El Cajon) - The Grossmont Symphony Orchestra welcomes its new conductor, San Diego Symphony Orchestra violinist, Hernan Constantino.  He is also on his seventh season as the music director for Mainly Mozart with the San Diego Symphony. His first concert performance is titled “Spanish Nights: A Concert of Passion and Fire” on March 7 at 7:30 p.m.

 

“Welcome Hernan and join us for an unforgettable evening of Spanish music and culture,” an announcement from Grossmont College states. “Our orchestra will take you on a journey through the works of Ravel, Bizet, and de Falla, featuring some of the most iconic and beloved pieces in the Spanish repertoire. From the seductive rhythms of Ravel’s Bolero to the dramatic flair of Rimsky-Korsakov’s Capriccio Espagnole, and from the haunting beauty of Bizet’s Carmen, this concert promises to be an unforgettable experience. Don't miss this opportunity to be transported to the sun-kissed hills and vibrant cities of Spain, where music and passion come alive.”

January 24, 2025 (El Cajon) - For the first time in 30 years, dogs are wagging their tails back into downtown El Cajon! Join the city on Saturday, January 25th for the End of Pawhibition, a celebration of this historic ordinance repeal. This all-day event will be filled with pawsitively delightful activities for you and your four-legged friends.

Start your adventure at Rob’s Brewpoint, where you can sip a cappuccino while your pup enjoys a bakery bite. Then, stroll over to the East County Art Association gallery to admire a collection of artwork inspired by our beloved furry companions. Feeling hungry? Swing by Main Street Donuts and Deli for a doggie bag and head to Prescott Promenade for a picnic. Prefer patio dining? Testo Pepesto will be serving up their exclusive “Bone Appetito” menu for you and your canine dining buddy.
 
The day will also feature enrichment games, tunnels, and clicker training demonstrations from the All Breed Obedience Club, Inc. (ABOCI), an East County nonprofit dedicated to strengthening the canine-human bond. The San Diego Humane Society will be on hand with trainers to answer behavior questions, a licensing team to assist with licensing needs. They’ll even have supplies to give out!
